Antique Kazak Karayazy Rug
AGE: 1850-1870
PRICE: Please Inquire
Here is a very rare Caucasian rug woven in Karayazy, Georgia. Karayazy is a village located at the head of a long beautiful valley.
I participated in a Turkotek.com discussion where rugs of this type were discussed by several people, so please check out the link below to this Turkotek salon.

These rugs are among the largest of all Caucasian rugs. This rug is over 12 feet long and around 6.5 feet wide. It is interesting to see the comparison between this rug and a very enigmatic and mysterious rug in the TIME Museum in Istanbul on the Turkotek salon. The TIME rug is variously dated to the 18th century and even earlier by some authorities. It has the same basic organization and size as the Karayazy rugs.
I am only aware of my rug and one other, sold privately, surfacing in the last ten years. Most of these rugs have long been in museums.
