Here is a rare and interesting Armenian rug from Erivan dating to the second half of the 19th century. The condition of this rug is excellent with only a couple of very well done repairs, no repiling, everything original. This rug has iconography rooted in the cultural environment of old Armenia. It has a wonderful palate of vivid vegetable dyes and in this business color is very near everything. The size and dense tight weave are consistent with an Erivan attribution. The rug’s construction includes blue wool wefts and fine light tan/white wool warps. This rug is very tightly woven and represents the best of Caucasus Mountain wool, dyes, and handiwork. This is truly a beautiful rug that can be fully enjoyed in the home while appreciating in value.
