Here is a Kiz Bergama rug,105 x 107cm., made with great wool and all natural dyes. The presence of a strong vibrant green along with an archaic drawing helps me date this rug to such an early period. Kiz is the Turkish word for girl and rugs of this type were made by brides to be, as a wedding gift or dowry object for their husbands. The forest green seen in this weaving is essentially the same hue as that found in very early Tekke and Salor weavings. Email me for more detail shots.
